Jerrad Ahlan Clay "JACK" Kutina, 22, of Hoyt, passed away Wednesday, December 11, 2019.
He was born January 21, 1997, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Clay Farrell and Kerilee Kay (Atkinson) Kutina. He was a 2015 graduate of Royal Valley High School and was attending Kansas State University.
Jerrad was employed by Shawnee County Parks & Recreation and Kohls department store in Topeka, Kansas; State University Memorial Union in Manhattan and was an intern with Technology Development Institute in Manhattan.
He had attended Highland Park United Methodist Church in Topeka, served as a Camp Staff for American Baptist Churches of the Central Region including Cross Winds Camp and was a member of the Kansas State University Fishing Team in Manhattan.
Survivors include his mother, Kerilee K. Kutina, Hoyt; his brothers, Zerul A. Kutina, Hoyt, Kenneth J. (Maria) Kutina, Topeka; his sisters, Ashleigh A. (Jason) Woolbright, Topeka and Jennifer R. (Joe) Russell, Topeka; his "adopted brothers", Benjamin (Anna) Riffey, Mayetta, Brandon Broxterman, Hoyt, Chance Ogden, Mayetta, Tristan (Kaylie) Tessendorf, McClouth, Dustin Gunter, Hoyt, Hunter Ramage, South Dakota and Wyatt Lickteig, Topeka; his nieces, Isabelle Kutina, Brenlee Russell, Lucy Kutina, Lileighauna Woolbright and Clare Kutina; his nephews, Kamren Woolbright, Kyle Kutina, Alexzander Woolbright and Lenin Russell; paternal grandmother, Beverly McClaury, Wakeeney; his aunts, Zerlysa (Todd McClaury) Atkinson, Topeka, Laurie (Tom) Bishop, Texas, Cindi (Mike) Area, Hoyt; his uncle, Jesse (Liz) Kutina, Denver, CO; his great aunt, Erma "Audrey" Atkinson, Topeka; and several cousins including Kotis Atkinson, Ryleigh Atkinson, Martin Kutina, Sara Kutina and Kimberly Kutina.
He was preceded in death by his father, Clay Farrell Kutina; his brothers, Kacey Kutina and Matthew Bailey; his maternal grandparents, Dr. Kay E. Meadows, PhD, and Zerul Atkinson; paternal grandfather, Clarence Kutina; his paternal great-grandparents, Martin and Caroline Schumm; his uncle, Lloyd Dennis Atkinson; and his aunts, Shirley McDonald and Young "Judy" Kutina.
Jerrad enjoyed among many things, spending time with his family, was an avid outdoorsman with a particular fondness for fishing and hunting. He was a musician specializing in playing trombone and guitar. He had a smile that would light up the room.
Cremation is planned. A celebration of Jerrad's life will be at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, January 4, 2020 at Highland Park United Methodist Church, 2914 SE Michigan Ave, Topeka. Dove Cremations and Funerals, Southeast Chapel is assisting the family.
Memorial contributions may be made to Kerilee Kutina, to be designated later and sent in care of Denison State Bank, 210 Hwy K-214, Hoyt, KS 66440.
