Jerry D. Davis, 86, of Topeka, passed away June 22, 2017 at Midland Hospice House. He was born December 20, 1930 at Havensville, Kansas to Harry and Mattie (Bricka) Davis. He graduated from Havensville High School in 1948. Jerry went to work as an apprentice data processor for KP&L. He then moved to Cimarron, Kansas and was employed by Cimarron Insurance Company where he created a data processing system. He then moved to Lawrence, Kansas to work for the University of Kansas as an IBM supervisor and finished his career with the Kansas Dept. of Labor where he retired in 1994.
In June of 1954, he married Dorothy Egbert. They had two sons, Don and Tim. She preceded him in death in 1959. Jerry then married Judy Long in December 0f 1960. They had a son and daughter, Kent and Jennifer. They were divorced in 1971. He married Nancy Bixler in 1975 and they later divorced. Since 2002, he has happily shared his life with Margaret "Mini" Thomas.
Jerry was a very talented athlete. He played basketball, baseball and football in his youth and was a lifelong passionate golfer. Jerry was a Friend of Bill for 32 years. He served as the treasurer for Al-canon Club Board and Group #1.
Jerry is survived by his significant other, Mini Thomas; his children: Don (Maggie), Jennifer (Deb) and Kent all of Topeka, Tim (Delilah) of Hutchinson; eight grandchildren: Ryan, Jaryl, Sarah, Dylan, Katrina, Kameo, Kendrick and Koleton; ten great-grandchildren; two nieces and two nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers: Daryl and Gayle; and his wife, Dorothy Davis.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00AM Friday, June 30, 2017 at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care, 200 SW Frazier Cir. Topeka, KS 66606.
