Jerry F. Eaton age 94 died of old age on Saturday September 30, 2023 at Peggy Kelly House in Topeka KS.
Jerry was born in Arkansas City, KS on September 21, 1929 the only child of LeRoy A. Eaton and Norma (Day) Eaton. He spent his childhood in Arkansas City, lived for a short time in Flat River, MO then the family moved to Topeka in 1942. He attended Crane Jr High and Topeka High graduating in 1947. He continued his education at Washburn University where he was a member of Phi Delta Theta fraternity. In 1950 he transferred to the University of Kansas.

His studies were interrupted in January 1951 when Jerry enlisted in the US Air Force. Jerry served in Korea beginning in January of 1953 as an NCO in charge of the Group Intelligence section of the 6147th Tactical Control Group. Their primary duty was interrogation of air crews after combat missions. He received the Air Force Commendation Ribbon for Meritorious Duty while in Korea.

On September 6, 1952 Jerry married Marjorie Mae Carlson. They had 3 daughters, Ann Elizabeth, Susan Kay and Julie Ann.

Jerry returned to the University of Kansas in 1955 and graduated in 1958 with a Bachelor's of Science in Architecture.

Jerry worked for Sheahan & Degan Inc, Eckdahl Davis & Depew, he was a partner in Knight, Remmele & Eaton Architects and ended his career as the head architect of KPL. He was involved in the designs of many buildings around Kansas. The State Bank in Anthony Kansas and Brookwood Shopping Center to name a few.

Jerry had many interests and hobbies. He had a lifelong passion for airplanes, learning to fly after he returned from Korea. He collected stamps, did woodworking, camped out every year on vacation & took piles of photographs. He loved to fish, tying his own flies and building several rods. After he retired he built a garden railroad in the backyard. During this time he helped start the NorthEast Kansas Garden Railway Society.

Jerry is preceded in death by his parents LeRoy and Norma, his wife Marjorie and his daughter Ann.

He leaves behind his daughters Susan (Curtis Shaw) and Julie; grandchildren Cody Beatty (Debbie), John Beatty (Jessica), Kayleen Shaw and Traci Stephens; great grandchildren Anistacia Beatty, Nathaniel Beatty, David Beatty, Cyrus Alexander, Ashley Miller, Carissa Miller, Carley Woods and Silas Shaw.

Visitation for Jerry will be at Dove Cremations and Funerals, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka Ks 66614 on Friday, October 20, 2023 from 5:00 - 7:00 pm.
