Jerry Lee Torgeson, 65, Topeka, died Thursday, April 24, 2008 at Lexington Park Nursing Center.
He was born Feb. 24, 1943 in Esterville, IA, the son of Carroll B. and Mabel I. Bateson Torgeson.
Jerry spent his entire career with BNSF Railroad and worked in the freight claims department before retiring. He also owned and operated Jerry's Billiard Supply in downtown Topeka.
He married Margaret Ann Christensen. They later divorced. She died May 17, 2005. He was also preceded in death by his mother, Mabel Isabell Torgeson, his brother, James A. Torgeson, uncles and aunts, Floyd N. Torgeson, Ralph D. Torgeson, Keith E. Torgeson, Mildred J. Sudek, and Wynonna V. Tice.
Survivors include his son, Mark Torgeson of Topeka; his daughter, Pamela K. Winters of Topeka; and his father, Carroll B. Torgeson of Lake Park, IA.
Services will be held at 10:00 am Tuesday at Newcomer Family Funeral Home with interment in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. He will lie in state after noon Monday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 4-5 p.m.
