Jerry M. Freeman, 64, formerly of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, August 3, 2008 at his home in Clearview City, KS. He was born on February 18, 1944 in Scott City, KS, the son of Eldon M. and Violet Holden Freeman. He was employed in the construction field for most of his life, priding himself in his iron working and carpentry skills. Jerry was gifted a new kidney in January of 2007. Survivors include Jerry's former wife and best friend, Linda Newton Freeman of Lenexa, three daughters, Stacey Freeman (Jean Moloney) of Mariemont, OH, Jill (Shawn) Link of Hoyt, KS, Jerilyn (Mike) Smith of Lawrence, four grandchildren, Skyler, Peyton, Oscar and Maya, his father, Eldon M. Freeman of Topeka, two brothers, Jack and Steve Freeman and two sisters, Brenda Blankingship and Debbie Taylor. A celebration of his life will be held at the Union Pacific Depot, 402 N. 2nd St., Lawrence, KS on Thursday from 1:00-5:00 p.m. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Jerry M. Freeman Memorial Fund, c/o Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 S.E. Minnesota Ave., Topeka, KS 66605 to cover medical expenses and assist other organ transplant recipients.
