Jesse C. Harvey, Jr., 77, Topeka, passed away, Monday, December 26, 2016 at Midland Hospice House.
Jesse was born October 31, 1939 in Topeka, the son of Jesse C. and Virginia (Wilkins-Newlee) Harvey, Sr.
He attended Seaman High School. He served in the U.S. Army from 1958-62.
He was employed as a Route salesman for Frito-Lay for 30 years, retiring in 2000.
He was a kind and loving husband, trusting, hard working with much pride and honor. He had a hard life but never complained.
Jesse married Dorothy Turpin on March 11, 1960. She died October 12, 2000. He started a new life at age 61 when he married Mary Foreman on May 25, 2001. She survives. Other survivors include daughters, Denise Keel, Dickinson, TX, Anita McDermott and Jeannine Eklund, both of Topeka; son, Mike (Marsha) Nelson, Topeka; grandchildren, Ross Brockhoff, Nicole Hill, Megan Brockhoff, Travis Eklund, Chase Eklund, Shawn McDermott, Jason Ray Nelson, Brian Todd Nelson, Shawn Michael Nelson; 15 great-grandchildren; and sister, Janice (Gene) Stangle. He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Jimmy Harvey and Jack Newlee.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, December 30, 2016 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. Burial with Military honors will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday.
