Jesse Joe Greenburg, 92, Topeka, KS passed away Monday, January 23, 2017.
He was born October 3, 1924 in Elk Falls, Kansas to Joe and Clara Greenburg. He lived the majority of his life in Solomon, KS and in later years moved to Alma, KS where he eventually retired.
He was preceded in death (1998) by his wife of fifty-three years, Virginia Jean "Jeanie" Holt and his daughter (2015) Cathy (Kenny) Reedy.
Survivors include; daughter, Patti (Scott) Oniki, Topeka, KS and his sister; Lois Rothgeb, Belle Plaine, KS, five grandchildren; Angie Penny, Arlington, TX, Jerry (Connie) Brewer Yorktown, VA., Brooke (Lance) Holder, Topeka, Emme (Collin) Billau, Topeka, Kayla Oniki, Topeka and nine great grandchildren.
Jess proudly served his country during World War II as a soldier in the United States Army, in Germany, Belgium and France. After serving in the war he became a heavy equipment mechanic and crane operator. Jess spent his entire life working hard but enjoyed his work. He retired as a member of the Operating Engineers Local 101. He was very creative and mechanically inclined and had several patents on hydraulic systems. Jess was a pilot and loved to fly and also enjoyed refurbishing vintage automobiles and tractors. He had an adventurous spirit, was full of fun loving mischief and was a wonderful father and husband. He was a very kind person, easy going and loved animals. His wonderful sense of humor never left him. He will always be remembered and deeply missed by his family that loved him so much.
Jess' ashes will be buried next to his beloved wife at the Longton Cemetery, Longton, KS.
