James Clyde Wright, 85, of Topeka, passed away Friday, March 22, 2024.
He was born September 14, 1938, in Konawa, Oklahoma, the son of Clyde and Cathryne (Busselle) Wright. He graduated from Seminole High School in 1956. He served in the Air Force during the Berlin Crisis 1956 - 1962. After serving, he moved to Topeka.
Jim was employed by WIBW Channel 13 for 13 years, then worked in the VA Hospital for 25 years until retiring in 1999.
Mr. Wright was a member of the FCRV, the Kansas Camping Association and the Mustang Camping Club.
Jim married Judy Glasgow on June 9, 2005 in Holton, Kansas. She survives. Previously he was married to Jean Atchley from 1960 - 1982, and to this union three children were born.
Survivors include daughters, Janet (Chris) Shaw and Joanna (Jon) Brady; son, Jamie Wright; step children, Brad Reynolds & Bethany Fritzson; grandchildren, Jennifer & Rachel, Zack & Erin, and Christine, Adam, Katie & Annie; step grandchildren, Kayden & Carter, and Courtney & Nash; 7 great grandchildren, and brother, Ronnie Wright of Crosby, TX.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Jim loved his family and was quite the story teller. He enjoyed camping, boating, fishing, gardening, wood working, fixing things, traveling, cooking and canning.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 1:30 p.m., Wednesday, April 3, 2024 at Kansas Ave United Methodist Church, 1029 N Kansas Ave, Topeka, Kansas 66608. A private interment of the cremated remains will be held at a later date.
Memorial contributions may be made to Cotton O'Neil Cancer Center, 1414 SW 8th Ave, Topeka, Kansas 66606. This would be in honor of his mother and his granddaughter.
