Jimmy K. "Jim" Simmonds, 61, of Topeka, passed away Sunday, July 20, 2014. He was born September 7, 1952 in Smith Center, KS, the son of Albert and Rosa Agnes Schoonover Simmonds.
Jim attended Kensington Public Schools. He was employed by Bob Browns Janitorial Services and KNI.
Jim married Leona Barrett in September, 1978. They later divorced. Survivors include three children, Brandon Simmonds, Jason Simmonds and Becky Bennett, four grandchildren, Brayden, Abrealle, Lenny, Liam and one brother, Richard Simmonds.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 24, 2014 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in Topeka Cemetery. Jim will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 23, 2014 at the funeral home.
