Jimmy "Jim" Woytek, 75, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, November 14, 2011 at his home. He was born May 9, 1936 in Robstown, TX, the son of Frank and Bessie Vavra Woytek.
Jim was an Air Force veteran and has resided in Topeka since 1961. He was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 27 years before retiring in 1992. He was a member of Highland Park United Methodist Church and NARFE.
Jim married Margie Tilton on September 17, 1955 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include their children, Cliff (Cheryl) Woytek, Becky (Rusty) Walters, Deanna (Ron) Hollenbeck all of the Topeka area, four grandchildren, Andrea (Brian) Walters Armstead, Mallory Walters, Justine and Shane Hollenbeck and three sisters, Louise Barefoot of Lampasas, TX, Elaine McCown of San Patricio, TX, and Evelyn Waller of San Angelo, TX and many nieces and nephews. Jimmy was preceded in death by his two brothers, Emil Woytek and Eugene Woytek.
Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Highland Park United Methodist Church. Burial will follow in Topeka Cemetery. Jim will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00-7:30 p.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Boy Scout Troop No. 13 with checks written to Highland Park United Methodist Church, 2914 SE Michigan Ave., Topeka, KS 66605.
