Joan M McDaniel

October 4, 1929 — January 10, 2025

Joan Obley McDaniel, born October 4, 1929 to Floyd Marion Hanson and Alice Lucille (Lydick) Hanson, Walnut Township in Brown County, KS. 

Attended Pleasant Hill. Moved to Hamlin, KS, age 7 and attended Hamlin grade school. Graduated valedictorian Hamlin Rural High School in 1947. Attended Highland Jr College, 1947-1948. Married classmate Victor D. Obley in 1948 in Morrill, KS. Married Walter J. McDaniel in 1984. They were members of the Sawdusters Club.

Retired from Jostens as a payroll clerk. 

Enjoyed gardening, sewing, cooking, reading, garage sales and refinishing furniture.

Surviving children, Deborah Kay (Obley) Davies, Jeffrey Bert Obley wife Gunda, and Vicki Jo (Obley) Hearrell husband Robert, 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren, 1 great great-grandchild, and brother, Gerald Hanson wife Louise.

Visitation held from 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m., Thursday, January 16, 2025, at Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd, Topeka, KS. Funeral 11:00 a.m., Friday, January 17, 2025, also at the funeral home. This service will be livestreamed using the link below. Will be buried in Hamlin Cemetery, Hamlin, KS beside her mother and father. 

Memorial contributions may be made to Midland Care Home Health, 200 SW Frazier Circle, Topeka, KS 66606.
