Joanne T. Koch, 81, Topeka, formerly of Salina, passed away Thursday, October 31, 2013 at McCrites Retirement Center.
Joanne was born March 26, 1932 in Clyde, the daughter of John W. and Nell (Breen) Begnoche. She graduated from Clyde High School.
Joanne married Maurice R. "Maury" Koch on September 13, 1948 in Clyde. Together they farmed in Clyde before moving to Salina in 1961 where they owned and operated a barber shop and liquor store.
She was a member of Christ the King Catholic Church.
Survivors include their children, John Koch, Topeka, Janelle (Kevin) Huurman, Dallas, TX, Joe (Cheryl) Koch, Wichita, Joni (Tom) Pfortmiller, Topeka; grandchildren, Jill Sherbet, Julie Koch, J.W. Pfortmiller, Travis Koch; and brother, Patrick Begnoche. She was preceded in death by her husband in 1995, and an infant son, James Michael Koch in 1962.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 5, 2013 at Christ the King Catholic Church. Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 6, 2013 at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Salina. Joanne will lie in state at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road after 2:00 p.m. on Monday, November 4, 2013 with a Rosary at 5:00 p.m., followed by visitation until 7:00 p.m.
