OBITUARY: Joe C. Kovar
Joe C. Kovar passed away Sat., Dec. 2, 2006 at his home. Joe was born on February 6, 1960, in Baytown, Texas. Joe lived with family until he was 4 years old. At that time, he was admitted to the Kansas Neurological Institute in Topeka, Kansas. Joe remained at KNI until 1986, when he lived for a short period of time in Medicine Lodge, KS. Joe returned to KNI where he lived until 1996. In June of 1996, Joe moved from KNI into a home with his friends Mark and Richard.
Services for Joe will be held at 11:00 a.m., Wed., Dec. 6, 2006, at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843 S.E. Minnesota Ave. Interment will be in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Joe will lie in state after 3:00 p.m., Tues., at the funeral chapel.
Joe volunteered at Saint Francis Health Center, the Colmery-O'Neil V.A. Medical Center and Individual Support Systems, Inc.
Joe is survived by Helen McNight, his friend and former guardian and Greg Skinner, his friend and guardian, and his friend Pricilla Walker.
Joe will be deeply missed by many in Topeka, including his friends, staff who provided him supports, and many others who's hearts were touched by Joe.
