John Joseph "Joe" Bauer Jr., age 67, died Thursday, April 29, 2021, in Topeka, Kansas.
He was born Feb. 13, 1954, in Topeka to Betty Lou Nichols Bauer and John Joseph Bauer Sr.
John attended Highland Park High School. He worked hard his whole life to support his family, including 13 years for Washburn University's Facilities Department. He loved fishing, boating, camping and spending time in the outdoors.
He married Cherie Douglas on June 6, 1974. They later divorced.
John is survived by his son, Brett (Amy) Bauer; granddaughter, Madelynn; former spouse Cherie Bauer; sister Rosemary (Jim) Halladay; many nieces and nephews; and his well-loved pug, Max. He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother Herta Bauer; and two sisters, Carolyn Herzig and Theresa Murray.
Private services are planned.
