John Bruggen, 78, Topeka, passed away Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at St. Francis Hospital.
John was born August 8, 1936 in Belle Rive, IL, the son of Frank and Ruby (Childers) Bruggen. He graduated from Mt. Vernon, IL High School and attended Southern State University in Illinois. He served in the U.S. Air Force.
He worked in the Food and Beverage industry for 32 years and retired as a Supervisor in the V.I.N. Division at Troop "B" of the Kansas Highway Patrol in 2001.
He was a lifetime member of the Harley Davidson Association, American Legion Post #400 in Topeka, and a past member of the Masonic Lodge, Arab Shrine, and the B.P.O.E. #332, all in Illinois.
John married Linda Connor on February 14, 1972. She survives. Other survivors include daughter, Lise Ullery, Topeka; grandchildren, John Perrine, Jr., Laci Mena; and 2 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; and son, Michael Bruggen.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2014 at Mount Hope Chapel. The family will receive friends 1 hour prior to the service at the chapel. Entombment will be in Mount Hope Mausoleum. Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
