John C. England, 69, of Topeka, passed away on Sunday, July 20, 2008. He was born on June 17, 1939 in Topeka, the son of Lester and Anna Croco England. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1957. He worked as an RN at Research Hospital in Kansas City until a disabling auto accident in 1967 ended his career. John later utilized his nursing experience as a volunteer for the Topeka AIDS Project. He was a member of the Metropolitan Community Church and enjoyed singing in the choir at First Presbyterian Church where he was a life-long member. He also sang with the Heartland Men's Chorus in Kansas City. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Jerry England. In addition to many valued friends, John is survived by a nephew, a great-nephew and niece and a sister-in-law, Lynn England of Topeka. Services will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery.
