John E. Dutt, 75, of Berryton, KS, passed away Jan. 23, 2014. He was born in Topeka, KS on Feb. 8, 1938 to Orvile L. and Vivian E. Dutt. He graduated from Topeka High School in 1956.
John served in the US Air Force from 1960 to 1964 stationed at Spandahlam AFB, Germany. He worked at Santa Fe offices for 43 years and retired from BNSF in 2000. John was a 50 year member of Orient Lodge #51, Scottish Rites Bodies, and Beulah Chapter #51 OES. He was also a member of the American Legion and the VFW.
John was a fan of motor sports of all kinds. He loved traveling all over the Midwest to find small race tracks. He enjoyed many years as a member of Sports Car Club of America, NHRA, NASCAR and working the track at Heartland Park.
For many years he raised a large truck garden selling fresh vegetables to the public, local restaurants and grocery stores. After work and in his retirement, he was happiest when he could spend a few hours drinking beer at his favorite tavern with his friends.
He married Nedele Baxley in Topeka in 1957. She survives. He is also survived by two brothers, Charles Dutt, Flower Mound, TX, and Wendell Dutt, Tacoma, WA. He was predeceased by his parents and a brother, James Dutt. Inurnment will be at Leavenworth National Cemetery. At his request, no services are planned.
