John Holmes

John "David" Holmes, 71, of Holton, KS, passed away on Saturday, June 25, 2016 at his home surrounded by his loved ones. He was born November 22, 1944 in Dover, KS, the son of Clyde and Annie (Ginter) Holmes.

John "David" graduated from Dover High School. He was a member of the Breakfast Club with his Santa Fe friends.

John "David" was employed by the Santa Fe Railway before retiring 1999 after 34 years of service. He was also employed by H.F. Rubber Machinery as a Purchasing Agent before retiring in 2009.

John "David" married Katherine May "Kitty" Corwin. She survives. Other survivors include children, Benjamin Holmes of Holton, Tammy Martin of Delia, Victoria (Firooz Nahai) Bickford of Atlanta, GA, Robin (Duane) Rieschick of Holton, Gregg (Heather) Martin of Walnut Grove, GA, Jerry (Diane) Martin of Covington, GA, 14 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, three other children of the home, Nicholas Clah, Demitria Clah and Kylie Williams of Holton and his siblings, Ella (Rich) Reinheimer of Tecumseh, Calvin Holmes of Topeka and many nieces and nephews.

John "David" was preceded in death by three brothers, Robert, Charles and Clyde and one sister, Luella (Bisel).

Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, July 8, 2016 at Mercer Funeral Home in Holton. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to T.F.I., 217 SE 4th St., Topeka, KS 66603.

Dove Cremation and Funeral Service in Topeka is assisting the family.
