John L. Taylor, 63, of Topeka, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2015 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka. He was born November 11, 1952 in Osceola, IA, the son of Ronald E. and Elvonna "Peggy" (Tooley) Taylor.
John graduated from Topeka West High School in 1970 and earned an Associate Degree in Computer Science from Washburn University. He was employed by the Pepsi Cola Bottling Company, 7 Up Bottling Company, the Santa Fe Railway for 17 years and then the last 18 years for Westar Energy Company.
John was a long time member of East Side Baptist Church where he was currently a Deacon, taught an Adult Bible Life Group and sang in the choir.
John married Martha L. Bulmer on May 27, 1972 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include their children, Gary L. (Rachel) Taylor of Norfolk, NE, Pamela L. (Wesley) Billups and Jennifer L. Bolejack both of Topeka, fifteen grandchildren, his father, Ronald E. Taylor of Mountain View, AR, three sisters, Nancy (Rob) Seymour of Magadore, OH, Susan Arnold of Knoxville, TN and Barbara (Rick) Johnson of Lindsay, OK.
John was preceded in death by his mother, Elvonna "Peggy" Taylor, son-in-law, Erik Bolejack and his brother-in-law, Doug Arnold.
Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 30, 2015 at East Side Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. John will lie in state and the family will receive friends from 6:00 - 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, December 29, 2015 at the church.
