John Locke Harper, Sr., 74, Topeka, passed away Monday, April 27, 2015 at his home.
He was born November 11, 1940, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Mr. Albert G. and Virginia (Garrett) Harper. He was a lifelong Topekan and attended Topeka public schools and graduated from Topeka High School.
John was an account executive and vice-president with Columbian Securities, retiring after 30 years. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church, the Masonic Blue Lodge, Arab Shrine and Order of the Eastern Star.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Jacque (Schiefelbein); his son, John L. Harper, Jr. and his wife Annette of Topeka; daughter, Elizabeth Ann Harper True and her husband Scott of Eureka, Missouri; three grandchildren, Michelle Harper, Christopher Harper, both of Topeka and Eric True of Eureka, Missouri and three siblings, William E. Harper and his wife, Beverly of Carlsbad, California; Albert G. Harper, Jr. and his wife, Jerriene of Topeka and Linda Sue Harper Scott and her husband John F., III of Topeka.
John enjoyed the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing and was a lifetime Yankee's fan.
A memorial service will be held at 3 pm on Monday, May 4 at Wanamaker Woods Church of the Nazarene, 3501 SW Wanamaker Road, Topeka. Private burial was held at Topeka Cemetery.
