J.C. Meek, 82, of Topeka, died Saturday, November 20, 2004 at a Topeka care facility. He was born on July 21, 1922, the son of Waid M. and Mamie M. Townsend Meek. He attended Topeka High School. He was a life long Topeka resident. Mr. Meek was an Army Air Corp veteran of WWII. He was a warehouse foreman at Forbes Field for 22 years before retiring in 1973. He was a member of Highland Heights Christian Church and the Topeka RC Modelers Club. He married Betty M. McCarter on July 19, 1942 in Topeka. She preceded him in death on December 12, 1997. Survivors include one son, Richard Meek of Topeka, two daughters, Cheryl Seals of Topeka and Jo Stevenson of Berryton, five grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Services will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Mount Hope Chapel Mausoleum. Mr. Meek will lie in state after Noon Monday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00-8:00 p.m. Monday evening.
