John Elliott Owen

John E. Owen passed away on August 23, 2017 at the Colmery-O'Neil VA Medical Center. He was born in El Dorado, Kansas on June 19, 1937 to Thomas Miller and Laina Marie (Jones) Owen.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years Patricia A. (Terpening) Owen of the home, two children, Stephen R. (Lori) and grandchildren; Benjamin K. and Stephanie L. of Lee Summit, MO; Susan R. Likes and grandchildren; Bobby G. and Lizabeth R., of Cortez, CO and many nieces and nephews.
He had eight siblings, Ray, Franklin and Lucille predeceased him. He is survived by Lois (Bill) Barnes, California, Thomas (Betty) Owen, Topeka, Stanley (Pam) Hammond, Alabama, Wayne (Carla) Hammond, Missouri, George (Barbara) Hammond, Oregon.
John served in the United States Air Force from 1955-1965 in radar and later as a computer programmer. After military service he worked for the USPS in Washington, DC and the Western Area Supply Center in Topeka as a computer specialist.
He was a member of the American Legion, Capitol Post 1.
Cremation is planned. At his request, there will be no services and burial will be at a later date.
