John P. deLain, 68, of Topeka, passed away Tuesday, November 22, 2011 at his home. He was born March 20, 1943 in Topeka, the son of Paul O. and Frances I. Smith deLain. He graduated from Washburn Rural High School.
John was a Navy veteran, serving as a machinist on the USS Becuma submarine. He was employed by Doug Mobile Home Sales for several years before starting his own business, My Mobile Service. John was member of Terra Heights Baptist Church and Richland American Legion Post No. 391.
Survivors include his mother, Frances deLain of Topeka, his siblings, Charles L. deLain of Wakarusa, Carol (Tom) Horton of Topeka and Diane deLain of Wakarusa, one nephew, Ron Horton of Salt Lake City, UT and several aunts, uncles and cousins. John was preceded in death by his sister, Marilyn Fire on October 27, 2010.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery southeast of Topeka where Military Honors will be presented by a Naval Burial Detail from Kansas City, MO. Memorial contributions may be given to the KSU Cancer Center, 1 Chalmers Hall, Manhattan, KS 66506. Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel is assisting the family.
