John V. Reber, 91, of Topeka, KS, passed away on December 22, 2017 in Auburn, KS.
He was born on November 11, 1926 in Wetmore, KS to Ralph E. Reber and Isabelle (Robinson) Reber.
He graduated from Sabetha High School, and went on to attend Kansas State University.
Following his education he enlisted in the United States Army.
He married the love of his life, Opal F. Young on August 3rd, 1952 in LeRoy, KS. She preceded him in death on December 23, 2004. He was also preceded in death by siblings Ila Grenfell, Ruth B. Reber, Ellen White, Ralph E. Reber, D. Wallace Reber, Matthew Reber, Elwood Reber, Donald Reber, and Leon Reber.
He is survived by three children, Michael J. Reber, Mark V. Reber (Brenda), and Tammy L. Ribera (Felix); grandchildren, Tena J. Dameron (Dennis), Casey Sue Drake (Ethan), Kristin Marie Combes (Adam), Holly Lee Kratina (Jesse), Nicole Lynn Davis (Loren), Adam Lee Reber, Angela Casjens (Glen), Brandon Ribera, Ashlee Ribera, and Jamie Ann Ribera; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Fern Rumsey (Robert).
John will be remembered as a man who loved nothing more than to do the activities that his family loved to do; Roller skating, water skiing and snow skiing just to name a few. He loved spending time with his family, regardless of the activity.
The family will receive friends during a visitation from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 26, 2017 at the Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 37th & Wanamaker Rd.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday, December 27th, 2017 at Covenant Baptist Church, 5440 SW 37th Street.
The family asks that individuals wishing to honor John's life consider making a donation to their local blood bank. John was proud to have donated blood over 300 times, beginning in the 1950's.
