John G. Roberson

John Glen Roberson, 76, of Valley Falls, passed away Tuesday, April 15, 2025 with his niece, Kelly and Kevin by his side.

He was born October 18, 1948, in Topeka, Kansas, the son of Johnnie Oren and Beulah Lois (Babcock) Roberson. He was a 1966 graduate of Valley Falls High School and attended Tech School in Pittsburg, KS. He served in the U.S. Air Force from July of 1968 until being honorably discharged in July of 1972.

John owned and operated Roberson Refrigeration in Valley Falls for 51 years until retiring in 2022.

He was a member of American Legion.

John married Joyce Elaine Roberson on April 13, 1968 in Miami, Oklahoma. She preceded her in death on August 3, 2023. Survivors include his nieces and nephews, Kelly Carpenter (Dr. Kevin Campbell) of Miami, OK, Darren Foster of Wyandotte, OK; his sisters-in-law, Sheila (Dean) Hull and Teresa (Tom) Finley and brother-in-law, Dean Cunningham, all of Wyandotte, OK; and several great-nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister-in-law, Beverly Foster and his brother-in-law, George Foster of Miami, OK.

John enjoyed playing in the GT’s Band in Valley Falls, model airplanes and his robotic Santa Clause on his front porch. His neighbors, Chelsea Eaton and her family were important to John and Joyce and enjoyed spending time with them on many occasions.

Honoring his request, cremation is planned. A celebration of life gathering for John and late wife, Joyce Roberson will be from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m., Saturday, May 3, 2025, at The Elevator Bar, 305 Maple St, Valley Falls, KS 66088. Dove Cremations & Funerals, Southeast Chapel in Topeka is assisting the family. Interment will be at Wyandotte Cemetery in Oklahoma at a later date.
