John Robert McKay, age 70, of Topeka, passed away April 9, 2013 at a Topeka hospital. John was the oldest child of Robert G. and Louise E. McKay. He was born March 4, 1943 at Kingman, Kansas. He attended Kansas State University. John served his country by enlisting in the Army and was stationed in Europe.
He began working for the United States Postal Service in 1965 at Manhattan, Kansas. He transferred to the Topeka Post Office and retired after working 43 years.
John is survived by his father; brother, Michael McKay; sister, Roberta McKay McClelland; aunt and uncle, Rex and Ellen Boyle; cousins, Eric Clabough, Mat and Peggy Clabough, David Lee, Steve and Penny Knollenberg, Elizabeth and Harriet McKay, Steven Boyle, Max Boyle, and Rebecca Boyle Fryar.
He was preceded in death by his mother and his brother, Charles Matson McKay.
A memorial visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 16, 2013 from 3-5PM at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service. Inurnment will take place at a later date at Tahoma National Cemetery, 18600 SE 240th St. Kent, Washington.
