John T. Gregory

John T. Gregory, 86, of Topeka, Kansas died on Wednesday, February 7, 2018, at Rolling Hills.

John was born on May 30, 1931, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Harry C. Gregory and Anna H. (Jicha) Gregory and graduated in 1949, from the Genoa High School.

He served four years in the U.S. Air Force from January 1951 to December 1954, most of this time was spent in England.

John was united in marriage to Adeline O. Linnerson in the Summertown Congregational Church in Oxford, England, in 1952. They were married happily for 65 years, before her passing in October 2017.

After military service, John managed various grain elevators starting with the MFA Coop. Elevator in Elsberry, Missouri, in 1955. In 1958, John went to work for the Evans Grain Company in Salina, Kansas, were he managed the Riley Grain Company, Riley, Kansas, and then was sent to manage Mo-Kan Grain Company, a grain terminal, for 12 years, in St. Joseph, Missouri. He was a member of the St. Joseph Grain Exchange. In 1975, Adeline and John moved to Colorado to manage a Minit Market in Breckenridge, Colorado, and Canon City, Colorado, for several years. John then went to work for the Alco Discount Store in Canon City, and he retired in 1992 and moved to Topeka, Kansas.

John was a lifetime member of the American Legion post 400, Topeka, Kansas. He was a member of the Presbyterian Church for many years. He enjoyed fishing, Nebraska Football, and traveling.

Survivors are his daughter, Terry Anne Puderbaugh, RN and her husband Dr. Steve Puderbaugh, of Topeka; son, John T. Gregory, EA and his wife Maureen, of New Oxford, Pennsylvania. He is also survived by one grandson, Dr. Matthew Puderbaugh; five granddaughters, Laura Puderbaugh, Dr. Amy Puderbaugh, Mary Gregory Kuti, Bridget Gregory Rudiger, and Kristen Gregory; and four great-grandchildren, Veronica Kuti, Joseph Kuti, Micah Puderbaugh, and Elijah Puderbaugh.

Visitation will be from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Sunday, February 11, 2018, at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service, 4020 SW 6th Avenue, Topeka, Kansas 66606. Graveside services will be at the Valley View Cemetery at Genoa, Nebraska, at a later date. The family would like to thank the great staff and nurses of Rolling Hills, Atria Hearthstone, and Great Lakes Caring Hospice.
