John Thomas Amos Iii

January 25, 1933 — February 11, 2016

John Thomas Amos III, of Topeka, Kansas, passed away Thursday, February 11, 2016.

He was born in Sabetha, Kansas, on January 25th, 1933, to John Thomas Jr. and Vivian Frances Wetmore Amos. He attended grade school at Rock School, then went to Bern High School until March of his Junior year when his family moved north of Soldier, Kansas. He graduated in 1951 from Soldier High School.

John married Barbara Bowser Amos on October 24, 1953, in Topeka, Kansas. He was both a farmer and a heavy equipment operator, but still found time to enjoy fishing, hunting, and his family.

He is survived by his wife, Barbara; daughter, Nancy Amos Bartlett (Terry); son, Daryl Amos (Karen); brother, Maurice Amos of St. Mary's; sister, Mary Jane Brunkow (Larry) of Overland Park; sister, Beth Bundridge (Bill) of Kansas City; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many step grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jack and Vivian Amos; his son, Mike Amos; and granddaughter, Micia Amos.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm. Tuesday, February 16, 2016, at Mount Hope Cemetery & Funeral Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, Kansas, where the family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
