John William "Bill" Guay, 60, Topeka, passed away Tuesday, November 13, 2012 at a local hospital.
Bill was born December 13, 1951 in Topeka, the son of John R. and Thelma (Adams) Guay. He graduated from Shawnee Heights High School in 1969.
He worked as a foreman for Hamm Asphalt for 23 years and was currently employed with Koss Construction.
Bill married Debra A. Knodel on March 4, 1972 in Topeka. She survives. Other survivors include their children, Heather (Bryce) Whelpley, Olathe, Brian (Jackie) Guay, Topeka, Lisa (Dwayne) Sebo, Hoyt; grandchildren, Alicia, D.J., Zachary, Samantha, Katelyn, Kyler; great-grandchildren, Jaron and Alisa; mother, Thelma Guay; brother, Bob (Barbie) Guay; sisters, Midge Wallen and Bonnie Sommers; father and mother-in-law, Orval and Arlene Knodel, and many in-laws, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by a son, John Orval Guay; and his father, Rich Guay.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, November 17, 2012 at Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road. Bill will lie in state after 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 16 and visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m.
