John W. Boehme, 80, of Springfield, Mo., formerly of Topeka went home to be with his Savior on Wednesday, July 21, 2004. John resided in Topeka until 2000, before moving to Springfield. He was a decorated WWII Veteran and a POW in Germany. John was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara of 58 years, parents, Bert & Gertrude Boehme, one daughter, Lynda Boehme and an infant son, Ronnie. He is survived by one son, Scott Boehme of Springfield, Mo., two daughters, Sandra Headley of Alma, Illinois, and Debra Boehme of Alburquerque, New Mexico, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild, two sisters, Mildred Essman of Topeka and Ellen Essman of Kansas City, Mo. Graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Memorial Park Cemetery where military honors will be presented by Philip Billard Post No. 1650, V.F.W. Mr. Boehme will lie in state after 3:00 p.m. Monday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will receive friends from 6:00-7:00 p.m. Monday evening.
