Johnne T. Moten, 81, of Topeka, passed away surrounded by his children at 5:54 p.m. on Wednesday, July 28, 2021 at a Kansas City, Kansas care facility. He was born August 3, 1939 in Nicut, Oklahoma, the son of Worth Leon and Adeline Viola (Brown) Moten.

Johnne grew up as the second eldest of seven and attended school until the 6th grade. He was a truck driver and later was employed by the American Linen Company before retiring. He enjoyed fishing and going to the casino when possible.

Johnne married Jane Himes. She preceded him in death. He later married Karen Shaffer in April 1968. She survives. Other survivors include his only daughter, Johnelle Frisby of Topeka, Kevin (Brandy) Moten of Hoyt, Chris Moten of Tennessee, Shawn Moten of Las Vegas, Nevada, his daughter-in-law, Donna Moten of Arkansas, twelve grandchildren, one great-grandson, his siblings, Shirley Rush, Sharon Long, Melinda Duty, David Duty and Steve Duty.

Johnne was preceded in death by his son, Tony and his sister, Margie.

A Celebration of Johnne's Life will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 4, 2021 at the Hoyt Community Center. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.

Dove Southeast Chapel, 2843 SE Minnesota Ave. is assisting the family with arrangements.
