Joline R. Clark

Joline Rose Clark, 81, of Topeka, died November 16, 2007.

Joline was born on March 22, 1926 in Topeka, the daughter of Ralph and Zilla Groendycke (later Zilla Adkins). She attended Topeka Public Schools, graduated from Topeka High School in 1944, and attended Washburn University, where she was a member of the Alpha Phi Sorority. She was married to James W. Clark, Jr. until their divorce in 1976.

She was a wonderful, loving and dedicated mother to four children, Dave, Tim, Bruce and Laura. Homemaking was where she found great joy. Her love for sewing, knitting, needlepoint and quilting allowed her to create many treasures for her family and others, her quilt work having been displayed at numerous places including the Eisenhower Presidential Museum.

Her grandchildren and great grandchildren were particularly special to her. Whenever possible, she was active and involved in their lives,, watching their tennis matches and other sporting events and attending their school and church performances.

As an active volunteer throughout her life, she was involved with a number of organizations, including the March of Dimes, Topeka Tennis Association, and various sorority events. She was a member of Topeka Bible Church.

She is survived by one brother, Hugh Groendycke; her children, David J. Clark and his wife Jill of Gurnee, Illinois, Timothy J. Clark and his wife Lynn of Portland, Oregon, Bruce J. Clark and his wife Cindy of Topeka, and Laura Jo Danielson and her husband Bruce of Topeka. She had 14 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren, including Morgan Marie Pollak, 3, who recently preceded her in death.
