Jose'(Joe) O. Martinez, 90, of Topeka, passed away Friday July 30, 2010 at a Topeka care facility.
He was born July 10, 1920 in Manhattan, KS the son of Jesus & Josefa Martinez
He attended Topeka public schools.
He served in the 5th Armored Division of the U.S. Army during WWII. He received the Silver Star and the Purple Heart.
He was employed and retired from the United States Postal Service .
He was preceded in death by his wife Dorothy Mae Martinez and a sister Maria Magdalena Escobar.
Survivors include two Sons, Phillip and Andre Martinez, and their families of Denver CO. and many nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews, of Topeka KS
He will lie in state after 4:00 p.m. Tuesday on August 3, 2010 at the Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. A parish rosary will be recited Wednesday August 4, 2010 at 5:00 PM. at the funeral home followed by family visitation until 7:00 PM.
A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated on Thursday August 5, 2010 at 9:30 am at Sacred Heart Church. Internment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
