Josefina C. Belmudes, affectionately known as Mama Finita, was born on January 26, 1943, in La Piedad, Mexico. She passed away peacefully on December 7, 2024, in Manhattan, Kansas, surrounded by her beloved family.
In her lifetime, Josefina dedicated herself to caring for her family and husband, a role she cherished deeply. Every Sunday, she opened her home for family dinners, where everyone was welcome. Josefina was especially known for her culinary delights, preparing delicious flan, Jello with strawberries and sour cream, and her renowned frijoles, which were made with love and patience. Her passion for cooking was equaled only by her joy in sharing these moments with her loved ones. Josefina and Alberto were one they could only be separated by death. They cared and cherished their family together.
A kind-hearted and generous spirit, Josefina was a beacon of light to all who knew her. Her sweet personality endeared her to many, and she always greeted others with a warm smile. Her faith was evident in her caring nature; she devoted countless hours to praying for her family and friends, often seen reading her prayers quietly. Additionally, in her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting, adding another personal touch to the homes of those she loved.
Josefina took great pride in her family and cherished every moment spent with them. She is survived by her daughter, Maria (Claudio Salazar) Lopez; her sons, Alberto (Sandra Ortiz) Lopez and David (Maria Hernandez) Lopez; and her grandchildren: Claudio Salazar, Miguel Salazar, Julio Salazar, Ana Salazar, Ramon Lopez, Fernanda Lopez, Carlos Lopez, and Eduardo Lopez. She also leaves behind her great-grandchildren: Claudio Salazar, Alejandra Salazar, Giuliana Salazar, and Mariana Salazar.
Josefina is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years Alberto Lopez Galvan, her father, Jose Belmudes; her mother, Asuncion Camacho; and her siblings: Luis Belmudes, Paz Belmudes, Juana Belmudes, Rafael Belmudes, and Altagracia Belmudes.
Her legacy of love and devotion will remain eternally cherished by her family and friends. Josefina's life was a testament to the power of kindness and generosity, and she will be profoundly missed by all who had the privilege to know her.
