Joseph M Gamino Sr., 71, of Topeka, peacefully passed away Thursday, August 25, 2011, at Midland Hospice House. He was born June 10, 1940, to Domingo Gamino and SanJuana Gamino-Pompa in Torrington, Wyoming. He was raised in Topeka, by his grandmother, Delores Murillo-Duran, where he spent all his life. He worked as a custodian for the State of Kansas for several years, until he became disabled.
He is survived by his siblings, John Gamino, Tacoma, Washington, Salu (Maxine) Gamino, Demetrio Gamino, and Delores(Clay) Batter, all of Denver, Colorado; sons, Joseph Gamino Jr., John Gamino, Rudy Gamino (Della), and Dino Gamino (Mary); daughters, Rita Chavez-Gamino (Florencio Sr.), and Renae Gamino; seven granddaughters, Amparo, Gloria, Rosa, Angela, Rosa Maria, Victoria, and Alicia Gabriela; one grandson, Florencio Chavez Jr.; five great grandsons, Ulises Juan, Antonio, David Ricardo, Martin Alfonzo, and Isaac Juan; one great granddaughter, Yasmine Amparo; companion of many years, Sharon Beckwith; and many other family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; grandmother; brother, Guadalupe Gamino; sister, Pilar Renteria; son, Juan Joseph Gamino; and grandson, Juan David Gamino.
Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, September 3, 2011, at Dove Cremation & Funeral Service. Mr. Gamino will lie in state after 4:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be left for the family of Joseph Gamino c/o Dove Cremation and Funeral Service.
