Josephine Stone Lathrop, 85, of Topeka, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on Sunday, July 9, 2017.
She was born August 13, 1931, in Winfield, Kansas, the daughter of Herbert and Annabelle Robards Stone. She was a graduate of Cedar Vale High School and attended the University of Kansas.
Josephine was a housewife for many years and was very active in volunteering for the Episcopal Church and Republican politics.
She was a member of St. David's Episcopal Church and was active in the choir, altar guild, and Daughters of the King.
Josephine married Richard A. Lathrop, Jr. on June 17, 1956, in Cedar Vale, Kansas. He survives. Other survivors include son, Kent (Becky) Lathrop; grandchildren, Andrew (Jennifer), Mitchell, Alexander, Benjamin, and Catherine; great-grandson, Solomon; siblings, Janice (Charles) Waugh and Judith Helm; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by infant daughter, Jane; and son, Eric.
A memorial ceremony will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, July 13, 2017, at St. David's Episcopal Church, 3916 SW 17th Street, Topeka, Kansas 66604. Memorial contributions may be made to the church or charity of donor's choice.
