Joshua A. Reed

Joshua Arron Reed, 22, of Topeka, passed away in his sleep, Thursday, May 2, 2013. He was born January 19, 1991 in Tempe, AZ the oldest of five kids. He is survived by his parents and little sisters, Heather, Emily, Amber and Kyra. Joshua graduated from Topeka High School in 2009 and Washburn Tech in 2010.

While we take comfort in knowing he is with the Lord, the shock and agony of losing a child and brother is indescribable. Joshua was the kind of person who wanted others to be served first. While he always loved flowers, nature, walking and games, he recently discovered his passion for cooking.

Joshua battled daily with his childhood demons; being a Type 1 diabetic and depression. Even though he was getting help looking forward to his future, in the end his poor body simply gave out on him.

Oh how we keep expecting you to knock on the door in your fedora hat and trench coat. You were far too young to be taken from us. Even though we know you are happier where you are now, than you ever were on Earth, we miss you terribly.

A memorial service will be held at 5:00 p.m., Friday, May 10th at Topeka Baptist Church, 4500 SW Gage Blvd. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Joshua Reed Memorial Fund, c/o Kaw Valley Bank.
