Joy Renee (Smith) Stratman, 54, of Topeka, passed away after an eight year battle with cancer on Saturday, May 12, 2012.
She was born on December 25, 1957, in Cape Girardeau, MO, the daughter of James & Louella (Beaird) Smith.
Joy was a graduate of Washburn University. She was employed as a CPA for Cummins & Coffman CPA. She was co-owner of the Qdoba Mexican Grill in Topeka.
She enjoyed playing golf, skiing, traveling and spending time with her family and friends.
Joy married Charles "Chuck" Stratman on June 1, 1979 in Dexter, MO, he survives. Other survivors include, four sons, Brian (Mary), Blaine (Cammi), Daniel, and Andrew; 5 grandchildren, Madison, Leah, Katie, Silas and Charlie; her father, Jim Smith; 4 siblings, Dan Smith, Beverly Kupinski, Teresa Eskew, and Susan Melton.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Louella Smith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, May 17, 2012, at Christ the King Catholic Church, Topeka. The family will receive friends from 6:00– 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 16, at the Penwell-Gabel Southwest Chapel, 3700 Wanamaker Rd., Topeka.
