Joyce Leegunselman Wentworth

October 9, 1935 — January 19, 2016

Joyce Lee Gunselman Wentworth, 80, of Topeka, Kansas died January 19, 2016 at Stormont Vail Medical Center. She was the only child of Lee and Nellie (Jones) Gunselman born on October 9, 1935. She attended Highland Park High School and married William "Bill" Broughton in 1952 at Topeka. They had two children, Bob and Darla. They divorced. Joyce later married Earl Wentworth of Topeka and her family expanded to include three step-sons, Max, Eric and Kris Wentworth, and produced a daughter Jodi.

Through the years Joyce worked for the state of Kansas, Kansas Bankers Association and the Menninger Foundation. She was able to enjoy several years of traveling with her husband in his various job assignments across the United States. She loved New York state and the snow. She could see Canada from her home there.

She was preceded in death by her parents, step-mother Minnie (Wolverton) Gunselman, husband Earl, step-son Eric, grandson Ryan and her granddaughter Amber.

Joyce is survived by her children: Bob (Barb) Broughton of Salina, KS, Darla Hughes (Dave Harklau) of Topeka, KS, Jodi Wentworth also of Topeka, Max Wentworth (Kathy) of League City, TX, and Kris Wentworth of Topeka; 15 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and three step-sisters: Emily Denney of Arcadia, CA, Judy Myers of Wichita, KS and Jane Westfall of Topeka.

Joyce was a gifted landscape artist. She loved working all types of puzzles, watching game shows and was a wonderful cook who enjoyed feeding anyone who came through the door! She was a past member of Omicron Zeta Chapter of Phi Tau Omega Philanthropic Sorority.

Her funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2016 at Mt. Hope Mausoleum Chapel, 4700 SW 17th Street, Topeka, KS with visitation beginning one hour prior at noon.
