Joyce Ann (Bicknell) Rogers, 59, Topeka, passed away Sunday, October 8, 2017 with her family by her side, after a 10 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis.
Joyce was born July 10, 1958 in Topeka, the daughter of Clyde "Bud" and Geraldine (Wagner) Bicknell, Jr.
graduated from Washburn Rural High School in 1976 and Washburn University in 1980, summa cum laude, with a degree in Criminal Justice.
She was the director at LaPetite Day Care, and later worked as a Corrections officer for Shawnee County Department of Corrections where she attained the rank of Sergeant; and then the State Department of Corrections where she was a Sergeant and later as a Corrections Counselor. She retired in 2010 due to health reasons.
She was a former member of St. John's Lutheran Church and a current member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt.
Joyce married David Gowan and they later divorced. To this union two children were born, Heather (Jay) Weston, Jeremy (Sara) Gowan, all of Topeka. She married Todd Rogers on March 13, 1993 in Topeka. He survives. Their children are Chelsey (Dakota) Stallons, Danielle Rogers, and Wes Rogers, all of Topeka. Survivors also include her mother, Geraldine Bicknell, Auburn; grandchildren, Olivia, Cooper, D.J., Cayden, Carter; sisters, Julie (Mark) Ross, Overland Park, Jennifer (Todd) Hennes-Bayless, Berryton; and nieces, nephews and many friends. She was preceded in death by her father; and mother-in-law and father-in-law.
The family wishes to thank all the staff of Health Care Resort of Topeka and Midland Hospice for the loving care they provided.
Memorial services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, October 13, 2017 at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church, 3625 SW Wanamaker Road. Inurnment will follow at Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at the church.
