Juanita Bridges

Juanita Bridges, 89 of Topeka passed away Saturday August 19, 2006 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
She was born Dec. 24, 1916 in Jeff Davis County, GA, the daughter of John M. and Beaulah C. Hulett Byrd.
She was a member of East Side Baptist Church.
Juanita married Henry A. Bridges on April 17, 1937. He preceded her in death on July 15, 1974. She was also preceded in death by her infant daughter Alva Jean Bridges and daughter, Fredia Chapman and grandson Drew J. Chapman. Survivors include daughter Nina Piel and husband, August of Topeka, two sons J. Alton Bridges and wife, Judy, Eatonton, GA, and Paul H. Bridges and wife, Linda, Alachua, FL, seven grandchildren, fourteen great-grandchildren, one brother, English Byrd of Cornelia, GA and several nieces and nephews. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Juanita will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home where the family will receive friends from 7:00 - 8:00 p.m. Thursday. Burial will take place in Reedy Branch Baptist Church Cemetery in Broxton, GA. Memorial contributions may be given to Midland Hospice Care, 200 S.W.
