Juanita Jane Kipers, 80, Tecumseh, KS, died Monday, August 16, 2004 at Midland Hospice House in Topeka.
She was born Nov. 30, 1923 in Wichita, the daughter of Byron R. and Lelia Mayhugh Baker. She graduated from Augusta High School. She resided in Wichita from 1945 until moving to Tecumseh in 1983.
She worked as a meter maid for the City of Wichita from 1960-1966. She was formerl;y a member of the United Methodist Church in Augusta.
Juanita married Virgil M. Kipers on June 7, 1942 in Augusta. He survives. Other survivors include her children, Virgil M. Kipers, Jr. of Littleton, CO, Janet K. Colbert of Ellicott City, MD, Gary L. Kipers of Pierce City, MO, and Karla K. Waggoner of Topeka, sisters, Laura Lee Langley of Exeter, CA amd Kathy Nutter of Escondido, CA, brothers, Edward Baker of Rainbow, CA, and Richard Baker of Escondido, CA, ten grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am Thursday at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel. Graveside services will be 3:00 pm at Elmwood Cemetery, Augusta.
Mrs. Kipers will lie in state after noon Wednesday at the funeral home, where the family will receive friends from 7-8 pm.
