Judith Kay Chapman

December 5, 1939 — September 24, 2020

Judith "Judy" Chapman, 80, returned to her Heavenly home on Thursday, September 24, 2020 after a valiant battle with cancer. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace.

Judy was born to the late Lester and Nadine Berry, in Rossville, KS on December 5, 1939. She attended Lowman United Methodist Church from an early age, which nurtured her religious beliefs. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1957. She was employed by Seymour Foods and later retired from the State of Kansas.

Judy was blessed with a loving family. She married Larry Chapman, on June 28, 1958 at the U.S. Naval Hospital in Millington, TN. Together they raised two children, a daughter Leslie, and a son Gavin. When her children were young, she was an avid supporter of Lake Shawnee Girls Softball along with Ken Berry Boys Baseball and Girls Softball. Judy was a Cub Scout leader for Gavin, as well as a Campfire Girls leader for Leslie.

Judy's love for her family surpassed all. She loved spending time with her grandkids, and made time to see them whenever possible. Her friends also played an important role in her life, with their Retiree Lunches and Friday Night Dinners being the highlight of her weeks.

Judy is preceded in death by her husband Larry, her parents, Lester and Nadine, and her brothers Ronald and Joseph. She is survived by her daughter, Leslie Seidel and her husband David, Topeka; her son Gavin of Topeka; and four grandchildren: Cameron Chapman, Connor Chapman, Jessica Seidel and Jordan Seidel, all of Topeka.
