Judith K. Hatton, 64, of Topeka, passed away on Saturday, February 13, 2010 at a Topeka hospital. She was born on July 12, 1945 in Columbus, KS, the daughter of George V. and Esther M. Cooley Lacen. Judy had resided in Topeka since the middle 1960's. She was employed by the State of Kansas in her earlier years before going to work for Security Benefit Life where she retired in 2001. She was a member of East Side Baptist Church. Judy married John R. Hatton on May 1, 1970 in Topeka. He survives. Other survivors include their children, Cathy R. Hatton, Steven D. Hatton and Becky M. Porter all of Topeka, five grandchildren, Samantha, Ryan, Andrew, Shayleigh and Tyleigh, her father, George V. Lacen of Baxter Springs, KS and three sisters, Beverly Steinmeyer of Topeka, Karen Patterson of Spring, TX and Georgia Pollard of Oswego, KS. She was preceded in death by her mother, Esther M. Orr in 2007. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday at East Side Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Penwell-Gabel Cemetery. Judy will lie in state after 2:00 p.m. today at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel where the family will receive friends from 7:00 – 8:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to East Side Baptist Church, 4425 S.E. 29th St., Topeka, KS 66605.
