Judy A. Ward Hughes, 62, of Topeka, passed away on Monday, November 11, 2013 at a Topeka hospital. She was born June 14, 1951 in WaKeeney, KS, the daughter of Kenneth E. Kern and Vivian B. Loe. Wilbur W. Loe was instrumental in her upbringing as well.
Judy graduated from Madison High School in Madison, KS. She was employed by the State of Kansas. She had resided in Topeka since 1988.
Judy married Virgil Hughes. He survives. Other survivors include one son, Brad (Sandy) Hughes and her grandson, Lane.
Cremation has taken place and as per Judy's wishes, no memorial services are planned. Private inurnment will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to Cancer Services c/o the Stormont-Vail Foundation, 1500 SW 10th Ave., Topeka, KS 66604 or to the Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758517, Topeka, KS 66675. Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel is assisting the family.
