Judy M Kimes

Judy M Kimes, age 81, went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, March 12, 2025 at Midland Care Hospice House.

She was born June 25, 1943 in Springfield, Missouri, to Anna Leigh and Winton Melton. The family lived in Bolivar, MO until 1954 when they moved to Springfield, MO.

Judy attended Parkview High School graduating in 1961 and continued her education at the University of Missouri in Columbia, receiving a degree in Journalism in 1965. She was a member of the Delta Gamma Fraternity.

Judy was an active member of Topeka Bible Church and participated in Bible studies there. She also attended Bible Study Fellowship for several years. Judy was a member of the Delta Gamma Alumnae Chapter of Topeka, a member of AJ Chapter of the PEO Sisterhood and a past member of the Topeka Junior League. She was also a member of NAMI Kansas.

Work experience included 10 years at RJ Carr’s Family Bookstore and 3 years at the Carousel Gift Shop. She started a home business, Butterfly Kisses, in 2002, selling knitted novelty scarves.

She married Terry J. Kimes on June 19, 1965, Springfield, MO. He survives. Other survivors include two daughters, Leigh Ann Kimes and Carrie Kimes of Topeka, a brother Robert E. Melton (Gale), a nephew Robby of Altus, OK, a niece Dawn of Dallas, TX and a granddaughter, Gracie Leigh Nolan of Topeka.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Monday March 17, 2025 at the Topeka Bible Church, 1101 SW Mulvane St, Topeka, KS 66604. The visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. Graveside services will be private for the family at Mount Hope Cemetery in Topeka.

Memorial contributions may be made to Topeka Bible Church, The Helping Hands Humane Society, Midland Care Hospice House or the Topeka Shawnee County Friends of the Library.
