Judy Ann Schimmel, 76, Topeka, passed away Tuesday, October 15, 2019 at Aldersgate Village.
Judy was born August 30, 1943, the daughter of George and Vula (Pigg) Bass. She graduated from Topeka High School in 1961 and attended Gene Blake School of Hairstyling, Inc.
She owned and operated a beauty shop in her home on Moundview Drive for the majority of her life. She retired from Supercuts in 2011.
Judy had a deep love for animals and was a supporter of the Helping Hands Humane Society. She was also a former member of the Unity Church of Topeka.
Judy married Al Schimmel, who passed in 2014. Survivors include daughter Holly (Matt) Rivera; grandchildren, Madeline, Gabriella and Eva Rivera, all of Topeka; and nephew, Jeremy (Tracy) French. She was also preceded in death by her parents; sister, Linda Wenger and her husband Gary Wenger.
Cremation has taken place and a Memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, October 21, 2019 at Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Road.
The family would like to thank Aldersgate Village staff and Avalon Hospice for the care and compassion they provided to Judy in her final days.
