Julia A. Cole

September 26, 1941 — January 17, 2021

Julia Ann Cole, died in her Tecumseh home on Sunday, January 17th, 2021 at the age of 79. She was born September 26th, 1941 in Newton, Kansas, to Charles and Thelma O'Bryan. Julia was one of seven children; Sally, Pat, Jackie Sue, Mike, Debra and Stephanie. Julia attended Newton High School where she met life long and best friend, Sue Annett. On August 25th, 1959, Julia married her devoted Husband Elbert "Budgie" Cole at Schilling Airforce Base in Salina, Kansas. With well wishes from her father of "No deposit, No return" Julia and Budge began their 62 year journey together.

Julia, a beautiful military wife and mother of three, found her love of sewing, ceramics, cooking, and arts and crafts while settling down in Tecumseh, Kansas. When her daughter turned six, Julia began taking classes at the local cosmetology school where she developed a passion for doing hair. Julia spent much time perfecting her skills and retired after 30+ years.

Julia was described as, "that person who would give you the shirt off her back" if she could. On October 19th, 2005 Julia and Budge adopted their great granddaughter. Through retirement and many sleepless nights, they raised their great granddaughter as their own. This past fall they became second-time empty nesters as she graduated high school and moved out on her own.

In her free time, Julia enjoyed playing bingo, spending time with family, spoiling her grandchildren, and best of all, debating with her husband.

Julia is survived by her husband (Elbert "Budgie" Cole) and four children; Gordon "Gordie" (Shirley) Cole, Bryan (Carrie) Cole, Sean (James) Nelson and Ellie Cole. Four grandchildren; Gordon Lee (Amanda) Cole, Summer, Amber (DeShawn) Cole and Shellsea (Andrew) Martin. Five great-grandchildren; Michael, Alexis, Annabelle, Charli Grace, and Beckam. Six siblings, Three God Children; Tim, Troy and Tonia Annett. Many Nieces and Nephews.

Julia is preceded in death by both her parents Charles and Thelma O'Bryan, Sister-in-Law Kaye O'Bryan, best-friend Sue Annett, and grandson Justin Nott.

A celebration of Julia's life is tentatively planned for Spring/Summer 2021.
