Julio E. Ortiz-Valdes, 73, of Tecumseh, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2015.
He was born November 25, 1941 in Caguas, Puerto Rico, the son of Julio and Isabel (Valdes) Ortiz-Carrion. He was a graduate of Gautier Benitez High School, Caguas, Puerto Rico. He served in the U. S. Army.
Julio was an over the road truck driver and owned and operated the D & J Dump Trucking Service. He was also a Certified Electrician and Air Conditioner Technician and worked for Griffith and Blair.
Julio married Dessie L. Warren on March 13, 1980 in Junction City, KS. She survives of the home. Other survivors include 9 children, Julio (Tana) Ortiz, Jr., Tecumseh, John Gordon, Topeka, Edward Joseph Ortiz, Texas, Mary Elizabeth (John) Chavez, Wichita, KS, Leon McBroom, Topeka, David Anderson, Topeka, Jeffrey Marmon, Topeka, Christopher Braden, Tecumseh, Brandon Boyd, Tecumseh; six grandchildren, Scott, T.J., Julian, Michael, Victoria and Ray-vun, ; and five great-grandchildren, J.C., Nancy, Marion, Cody and Edward.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, Michael Ortiz; son, William Gordon; several brothers and a sister.
Julio was cremated. A family gathering will be 1:00 to 3:00 p.m., Friday, June 12, 2015 at Penwell-Gabel Southeast Chapel, 2843SE Minnesota Ave, Topeka.
