Karen Kay Shepherd

Karen Kay Shepherd, 72, of Topeka, passed away on Friday, July 2, 2021. She was born February 18, 1949 in Torrington, Wyoming, the daughter of Walter and Betty (Barnhart) Klipstine, Jr.
Karen graduated from Guernsey-Sunrise High School in Guernsey, Wyoming in 1967. She was employed by the Burlington Northern Railroad as a Crew Caller for 41 years before retiring.
Karen married Michael A. Shepherd on May 5, 1968 in Fresno, California. They later divorced.
Survivors include one daughter, Shannon K. Genau of Topeka, two grandsons, Geoff and Cody and her brother, Michael Klipstine of Guernsey, Wyoming.
As per Karen's wishes, cremation has taken place and no memorial services are planned. Private inurnment will take place at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the Helping Hands Humane Society, 5720 SW 21st St., Topeka, Kansas, 66604.
Dove Southwest Chapel, 3700 SW Wanamaker Rd. is assisting the family.
